< 40 Days

We have finally passed the 40-day mark. In just over a month, Rebecca and I will exchange our vows and become Mr. and Mrs. Brasher. We are absolutely ecstatic, anxious, impatient, nervous, and ready.

Up until now, we have been able to put certain wedding needs on the back burner. That is NOT the case anymore. Everything is starting to be needed immediately. Example: just in the last week, we’ve ordered pictures, gotten ceremony music approved, bought cake serving utensils, had a shower, attended our penultimate pre-marital counseling session, planned the ceremony, reserved a space for rehearsal dinner, and selected food for the rehearsal dinner. It’s a little overwhelming, but in the best sense of the word.

Many of you have asked where we are going on our honeymoon. We are so excited to get a week away from Memphis, considering that I will honestly finish the fall teaching semester the day before our wedding. On our wedding night, we will be spending a night in Nashville at the Hermitage Hotel. It is a 5-star luxury hotel just across the street from the State Capitol Building. I have been wanting to stay in this hotel for years and I’m so excited to get the chance to do it. It’s going to be decorated up for Christmas and we can’t wait to see it. The next morning, we get up and drive to Pigeon Forge for a 4-night stay at Sunrise Ridge Resort at the Smokies. My family has stayed at this resort for years and it’s actually the same place my parents stayed on their honeymoon. It’s also free because of my parents’ timeshare plan. We plan to go to DollyWood, the Comedy Barn, Cade’s Cove/Clingman’s Dome, and the highlight of the trip…STAR WARS VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS ON DECEMBER 23RD. We have our tickets purchased and matching Chewbacca toboggans ready to go. Can you say, “best honeymoon ever?”

39 days and counting. We are nearly there.
